All giffgaff SIM deals include a generous data allowance, unlimited UK calls and unlimited UK texts. EU roaming is also included, so you can use your plan whilst travelling in Europe. International calls and texts are not included and are charged on a Pay As You Go basis using Airtime Credit.
Pay As You Go plans are one-off monthly bundles with no automatic renewal — ideal if you want full control. Monthly rolling plans auto-renew each month and give you more data for the same price, whilst 18-month contracts offer the most data of all but require an 18-month commitment. All three types include unlimited UK calls, texts and 5G at no extra cost.
Yes. Simply text PAC to 65075 from your current network to receive your Porting Authorisation Code within 60 seconds. Once you activate your giffgaff SIM, enter the PAC code on the giffgaff website, and your number will normally transfer within one to two working days.
Yes, giffgaff fully supports eSIM for both new and existing members. You can choose an eSIM when ordering a new SIM, or switch from a physical SIM to an eSIM through the giffgaff app by going to Account > SIM > Replace my SIM > Switch to a new eSIM. You will need a compatible device and an internet connection to complete the setup.
Yes. In the EU and selected destinations, you can use up to 5 GB of your data allowance along with your UK calls and texts at no extra cost. Outside the EU, standard Pay As You Go roaming rates apply, though you can purchase travel data add-ons for selected destinations to help manage costs.
If you run out of data before your plan expires, you can start a new plan early and continue using data straight away. Alternatively, you can buy a data add-on or keep using your SIM on a Pay As You Go basis with Airtime Credit at standard rates until your next plan begins.
Yes, all giffgaff SIM deals support both 4G and 5G at no extra cost. To access 5G speeds, you will need a 5G-compatible device, 5G coverage in your area and 5G enabled in your phone settings. 4G coverage is available across most of the UK.
Yes, tethering is allowed on all giffgaff plans that have a limited data allowance, so you can share your mobile data with other devices. The only exception is the unlimited data plan, where tethering is not permitted.
Giffgaff runs on the O2 mobile network, which covers approximately 99% of the UK population for 4G and offers growing 5G coverage in major cities and towns. You can check coverage at your address using the O2 coverage checker before choosing a plan.
You can change your plan at any time through your online account or the giffgaff app. If you upgrade to a more expensive plan, the change takes effect immediately; if you switch to a cheaper plan, it applies at your next renewal. Pay As You Go and monthly rolling plans can be cancelled without penalty, whilst 18-month contracts carry an early termination charge.
'Always On' means you will always have data available. However, after using your first 80 GB, your data speed is reduced to 384 kbps between 8 am and midnight, which may cause activities like HD video streaming to be noticeably slower.
A monthly rolling plan auto-renews each month and, in return, giffgaff rewards you with a larger data allowance than the equivalent Pay As You Go plan at the same price. You can change, pause or cancel it at any time before the next renewal, so you still have full flexibility without a long-term commitment.
If you have set up automatic renewal, your new plan will activate as soon as your current one ends after 30 days — no action needed. If you have not set up auto-renew, you will need to purchase a new plan manually from your giffgaff account. We recommend enabling automatic payments to avoid any interruption to your service.
Yes, any unlocked phone works with giffgaff SIM deals. If your phone is locked to another network, you will need to request an unlock code from your current provider, which is usually free once your contract has ended. Most modern iPhones and Android devices are fully compatible.
Yes, the O2 3G network has been fully switched off. If your phone only supports 3G, you will need to upgrade to a 4G or 5G device to continue using mobile data. Voice calls and texts may still work over 2G in some areas, but for the best experience, a 4G-capable phone with VoLTE enabled is strongly recommended.
If your calls and texts are working but mobile data is not, the issue is usually related to your APN (Access Point Name) settings. Make sure your APN is set to "giffgaff.com" in your phone's mobile network settings, restart your device and confirm you have an active plan or Airtime Credit. If the problem persists, check for network issues in your area using the giffgaff coverage checker or contact the giffgaff community for further help.
